3D-ENSURE has been selected for inclusion in the Research Luxembourg Technology Portfolio, showcasing one of Luxembourg’s most promising research innovations with commercial potential. This recognition highlights the project’s novel self-healing sensor technology and its readiness for industrial collaboration, licensing, and technology transfer.
Developed by the Advanced Engineering & Smart Sensors Solutions (AE3S) Laboratory at the University of Luxembourg, 3D-ENSURE introduces a new generation of intelligent sensors capable of automatically detecting sensor faults, compensating for signal degradation, and maintaining reliable measurements without interrupting operation. The technology combines advanced sensing, artificial intelligence, and self-healing signal processing to improve the reliability and lifetime of industrial monitoring systems.
The technology addresses a major challenge faced by industries worldwide: unexpected sensor failures that lead to costly downtime, unnecessary maintenance, and unreliable process data. By enabling continuous and trustworthy monitoring, 3D-ENSURE helps industries move toward more resilient, sustainable, and predictive operations across manufacturing, environmental monitoring, and smart infrastructure.
The innovation has already attracted significant industrial interest and is supported by the FNR JUMP Programme, which is accelerating its commercialisation through the creation of the 3D-ENSURE spin-off. The project is led by Prof. Inès Chihi and developed with the contribution of Dr. Mohammad Abuabiah and the AE3S research team.
